Help make trade fair
Buying Fairtrade products is one way you, as a consumer, can make a difference. That is why we want everyone in Milton Keynes to be a Fairtrade consumer, and Fairtrade products to be available in supermarkets, restaurants and workplaces across MK. You can help us in this aim, in different ways:
Ask for Fairtrade products wherever you shop or eat. Give a hand during Fairtrade Fortnight, when we will be taking the Fairtrade message to Milton Keynes' shoppers. Companies can make Fairtrade products available to staff and customers Fairtrade is Good BusinessInvite a speaker on Fair Trade to your local community or business organisation, church group or sports club. But what about everything else we buy? How can we be sure the workers making other products we use are paid a living wage? What can a responsible company do to promote sustainable resource use and decent working conditions for those making its products? The answer is ‘ethical trade’ Ethical trade means companies assuming responsibility for the conditions of workers in plantations and factories in poor countries who make the goods they sell. To address growing public concern over labour and environmental abuses many UK companies have adopted ethical trading policies. What can I do about ethics in trade? The Corporate Responsibility Bill
